Stan Nelson was born and raised in Grand Forks, ND. Although his family lived in town, they had a farm near Thompson, ND. it was there where Stan learned a strong work ethic.
Stan and his family attended Bethel Luthern Church in Grand Forks. Stan heard the gospel there but rather an respond to it, he went the way of the world. Ass Stan progressed in his education sports began to dominate his life. He play football, basketball and baseball and track. The highlight of his sports career was playing on a basketball team that won the Class A title in 1970. After high school he attended NDSCS, in Wahpeton ND, where he played football and received his education in college prerequisites and Electrical Technology. In his sophomore year after being convicted of his sin by the Holy Spirit, he surrendered his life to Christ. He returned to Grand Forks in 1973 and began to work in construction. He met his future wife at a summer gathering of believers in GF. They were married in 1974 and Stan went back to college at UND for one year. In 1976 they moved to Nampa, ID and Stan enrolled at Northwest Nazarene college to study the Bible. in 1977, Stan and Darlene began searching for a church home. They found their home at Montana Baptist church in Caldwell ID. In 1980 Stan was commissioned by the church body to attend Northwest Baptist Seminary in Tacoma, WA. After Stan graduated from NBS in 1985, they needed up moving back to the Midwest. He began his pastoral ministry in the Fall of 1986 at Cavalier Baptist Church, Cavalier, ND. In 1995 he accepted the call to be the pastor of First Baptist Church in Bemidji, MN. Comments are closed.
